Hi everyone! I’ve had this post sitting in my drafts for a long time now. Being #NationalLipstickDay I thought it would be quite apt. I’m shocked that I’ve accumulated so many Tom Ford lipsticks but also glad that I haven’t bought any new ones since I wrote this.
This is a simple swatching reference of all my Tom Ford lipsticks. I’ve collected these over the years and I (mostly) love them all but I will preface by saying that I really don’t feel like these are the most unique anymore. I remember when they first came out and creamy comfortable mattes weren’t so mainstream. The TF formula was so well loved at that time. Now, you just have so many options now across all price ranges that perform just as well that it’s really about your preference. Yes, the packaging is great, the formulas perform as they claim, but they are certainly not unique.
Tom Ford releases new formulas at least every year, I can’t keep up anymore but if you wanted to try one without spending too much, I would really recommend the Girls and Boys range where they are in mini sizes.
Let’s talk formula, I’m going from most loved to most meh.
Tom Ford Lip Color Matte – Ruby Rush, Plum Lush
This is hands down the best Tom Ford formula in my opinion, richly pigmented, very creamy but a soft matte finish. It will last through meals and for hours before it wears off. Plum Lush is a beautiful berry pink, a very unique colour in my collection.
Tom Ford Clutch-Size Lip Balm – L’Odissea, Neotropic
As a fan of sheer lipsticks, this formula and packaging won me over. A creamy balm like lipstick that *does not* melt in high temperatures and still looks like candy. Yes, it needs to be reapplied but I don’t mind that for these colours. L’Odissea is a unique peachy salmon pink that actually looks good on me.
Tom Ford Lip Color – Indian Rose, Negligee, Drake
This is the default creamy formula and it’s as basic as my writing. Very pigmented, creamy, good selection of colours but does feel overpriced int he end. However, the shade negligee is the perfect warm nude that has a tinge of pink and orange, neatly balancing the two. It’s a colour I would definitely repurchase.
Tom Ford Lip Color Shine – Nubile
This is similar to the cream formula but with a lot more shine. I feel this also has more slip and tends to wear off more easily too. I do like this nude shade though, a touch lighter than Negligee.
Tom Ford Lumiere Lip
Sometimes I do get swayed with pretty packaging and promise of a moisturising lip balm. This does deliver on that but to my surprise it has virtually no tint. That gorgeous orange shade translates to basically a clear lip gloss. Don’t buy this.

Let me know if I should do more of these lip swatch posts! I have a ton of YSL and a growing Charlotte Tilbury collection…
